Michael Custode est un artiste canadien connu pour ses illustrations évocatrices en noir et blanc qui imitent les gravures sur bois. Diplômé de l’Ontario College of Art en 1986, il a travaillé comme graphiste avant de se tourner vers l’illustration. Ses œuvres ont été reproduites dans The Globe and Mail, The Washington Post et Sports Illustrated, et ont été récompensées par des prix du Art Directors Club de Toronto et de l’Advertising and Design Association of Ottawa.

Robert E. et Jill P. May ont été professeurs tout au long de leur carrière à l’Université Purdue, dans l’Indiana, avant de prendre leur retraite. Robert May est un chercheur de renommée internationale, spécialiste des « filibustiers », ces aventuriers du XIXe siècle qui menaient des expéditions militaires privées et illégales dans des territoires étrangers. Les recherches, écrits et enseignements de Jill May ont mis en lumière le multiculturalisme dans la littérature pour enfants. Ils sont les co-auteurs de Howard Pyle: Imagining an American School of Art (2011).

The illustrator
Michael Custode is a Canadian artist known for his evocative, black-and-white illustrations that imitate woodcut engravings. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art in 1986, he worked as a graphic designer before turning to illustration. The authors
Robert E. and Jill P. May were career-long professors at Purdue University, Indiana, prior to their retirements. Robert May is an internationally recognized scholar of the “filibusters,” nineteenth-century adventurers who invaded foreign territory in private and illegal military expeditions. Jill May’s research, writing, and teaching have illuminated multiculturalism in children’s literature. They are the co-authors of Howard Pyle: Imagining an American School of Art (2011).
